A familiar face returns and two familiar names join the Andretti Motorsports GTD team for the 2024 season starting with the Rolex 24 At Daytona, January 27-28. The team announced today that full-season drivers Jarett Andretti and Gabby Chaves will pilot the No. 43 Gallant Building Services Porsche in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with Scott Hargrove joining them for the endurance events.
Two-time Canadian Porsche GT3 Cup Champion and 2013 USF2000 Champion Scott Hargove will make his first appearance driving for Andretti Motorsports.
“Returning to the IMSA WeatherTech series with Andretti Motorsports is a truly surreal feeling,” Hargrove said. “I had the pleasure of testing their LMP3 car back in 2022, and we have continued the conversation since. Their decision to field a Porsche 911 GT3 R in 2024 makes this a perfect fit. It means the world to me to get back behind the wheel after a long three-year hiatus from the series. I’m very grateful to everyone who has supported me throughout my career and I’m excited for what’s to come. I’d like to extend a special thank you to Jarett and Gabby for placing their trust in me to share the car with them in the upcoming season!”
Returning for his third season with Andretti Motorsports, 2014 Indy NXT Champion and 2015 IndyCar and Indy 500 Rookie of the Year Gabby Chaves echoes his teammates excitement.
“I am truly ecstatic for the opportunity to be part of this new chapter in Andretti Motorsports sports car endeavor,” Chaves said. “To be able to start our first full season of GTD racing with such a prolific brand like Porsche and their 911 GT3 R is an absolute dream. I look forward to getting on track very soon and start our program with our eye on a Rolex At Daytona 24!”
With his third season of WeatherTech Championship racing under his belt, third-generation driver and co-founder of Andretti Motorsports, Jarett Andretti, is looking forward to the intense level of competition that the GTD class brings, “It will be great to get back to Daytona, this time in the GTD class. Our family has a lot of history with Porsche, namely with Dad (John Andretti) winning 24 Hours of Daytona overall in a 962 in 1989. We also have a new number with No. 43 which has an immense amount of history and we hope to add to it in IMSA competition. The whole team is excited about this new challenge and we hope to add to the Andretti / Porsche history that has already been built!”
